Autism Care

I help people to communicate so they can connect with

themselves,

their communities,

and the world!

Communicate authentically!

Want to speak clearly, express yourself more easily, understand what others say?

I can help you participate in conversations the way you want to, so that you can connect with the people who matter to you.

What is Speech-Language Pathology for Autism?

I work with autistic people of all ages, with a range of communication challenges.

We start with an assessment, to understand how you (or your loved one) communicate now and how you want to communicate. We explore your strengths and interests, as well as your goals for communication and life.

Then we put together a plan to build on your strengths and interests to help you reach your goals. We work together to help you feel confident communicating in the situations that are important to you.

Why choose me for Autism Care?

As a graduate student, I came across Barry Prizant's research on autism. He wrote about echolalia—the repetition of words and phrases—not as a meaningless behavior, but as a meaningful way of communicating. That perspective was my introduction to autism, and it shaped how I see it today: as a difference, not a disorder.

Since then, working with many autistic clients and connecting with autistic people in my personal life has helped me appreciate their unique perspectives. I take a neurodiversity-affirming approach, tailoring support to each client's goals and preferences. I focus on strengths and interests, and encourage independence and self-advocacy.

Listening closely to my clients and other autistic people helps me continue to learn and improve the care I provide. I am committed to providing excellent support for autistic people in Manitoba and Ontario.
