FAQ

Are you a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist?

Yes, I am licensed by the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Manitoba (CASLPM). CASLPM can be reached at 204-453-4539 or office@caslpm.ca. You can also check if any Speech-Language Pathologist is registered in Manitoba here.

Do I need a referral to see you?

No, you do not need a doctor's referral to work with me. Please ask your extended health insurance provider if a referral is required for services to be reimbursed.

Will you see me in my home?

I am unable to accept new clients for out-of-office appointments.

Is there funding for Speech-Language Pathology services?

Extended health insurance often provides some coverage for Speech-Language Pathology services. We are able to bill some insurance companies directly.

Funding may be available through Jordan's Principle for First Nations children

Variety the Children's Charity provides funding to help support children and their families.

Do you run groups?

Not right now. I have extensive experience running groups. I have run groups for gender-affirming voice care, adults with acquired communication impairments, autistic children and adults and their parents, and adults with Parkinson's.

I do not have any groups running at the moment. Please call, text or email if you want to be put on a waiting list.

Hello SpeechWorks currently runs groups for aphasia, cognitive-linguistic communication disorders and Parkinson's, and I love helping out in those groups! They are also planning to run More Than Words, a program for parents of young autistic children.

What is the difference between a Speech Therapist and a Speech-Language Pathlogist?

People registered as a speech-language pathologist with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Manitoba are allowed to call themselves

The abbreviations SLP, RSLP, ST, RST, SLT, RSLT, SLC and RSLC are also allowed.

Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) is the most commonly-used North American name. I prefer this name to "Speech Therapist" because I offer a whole range of support - therapy is just one part of what I offer.
