Land Acknowledgement
I live and work on the traditional territories of Indigenous peoples. I live on Treaty 1 territory, the ancestral lands of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene peoples, and the homeland of the Métis Nation. I work in Manitoba and Ontario, lands that have been cared for by Indigenous peoples for thousands of years.
My water comes from Shoal Lake 40 First Nation. Shoal Lake was under a boil water advisory for 24 years because of colonial policies that have an ongoing impact on this community.
We cannot change the past. However, we can acknowledge the harms done and work for a better tomorrow. I support the efforts of Indigenous peoples to reclaim their rights, lands, and cultures.
